Wood Workshop, Liquiñe
Crafting Futures Chile focuses on building stronger connections with the World Crafts Council’s Craft Cities in Chile, the country with the most craft cities on this list for Latin America, including Liquiñe (woodwork), Chimbarongo (whicker), Rari (horse hair) and Doñihue (weaving). Through creative residencies, the project aims to bring together designers and makers to explore the indigenous local materials and making practices of these craft cities through experimental collaborations. The outcomes address the role of design in craft and the relationships between designers and makers, facilitating a new ecosystem for craftspeople and designers to collaborate and a unique platform for creative freedom and innovation
