Design Connections 10x10 2019

by Parvinder Marwaha

Every year we showcase a selection of the best emerging design talent from across the UK in our digital campaign 10x10

As part of our Design Connections programme, 10x10 aims to illustrate design in its broadest sense, giving a snap-shot of ideas and projects that are currently emerging.

This year 10x10 takes shape as a digital campaign, where we profile ten emerging designers from a diverse range of design disciplines and perspectives, from craft and architecture, to fashion, digital and material innovation.

The cohort of 10x10 2019 designers are:

Adapt

Agile City

BioBabes

Ella & Nicki

Hyphen-Labs

John Alexander Skelton

Jon C Flint

Leszec Sikon

Natasha Trotman

Yinka Ilori

As well as talking to the designers about their work and inspirations in Q&As, we commissioned a mini-series of 3 films focusing on the work of Yinka Ilori, Hyphen-Labs and Adapt. We were interested in how they use design to represent key issues such as identity, environmentalism and emerging technologies to a global audience.

Design Connections is our annual design industry networking programme. It offers directors and curators from design museums, centres and festivals around the world an inspiring and immersive introduction to the best of the London Design Festival, alongside meetings with leading designers and organisations with the aim of brokering new connections and collaborations.

The programme encourages international collaboration between the UK and international designers and this year we're thrilled to be welcoming delegates from Austria, Brazil, China, Germany, India, Mexico, Nepal, Saudi Arabia, Spain and Uganda.
