Design Connections 2012. Film: Alice Masters

The London Design Festival (#LDF13) is one of the biggest design festivals in world. It takes place from 14 – 22 September and features over 300 events. British Council is running its industry programme Design Connections (15 – 20 September). This programme is for directors and curators from design museums, centres and festivals around the world.
What is Design Connections?
Design Connections offers an inspiring and immersive programme and introduces the best design, designers and design organisations. It provides opportunities for networking, learning and sharing with international counterparts.
The aim of the programme is to broker new collaborations and last year resulted in: a new partnership between the Design Museum and Gwangju Design Biennale which sees the Designed to Win exhibition open at the biennale next week;Abraham Thomas and Asif Khan invited to speak at India Design Forum 2013; Pan Studio, Gerry Hopkinson, Jon Rogers and Clare Brass of Sustain RCA leading workshops and lectures at the Unbox 2013 festival; and Rama Gheerawo, deputy director of the Helen Hamlyn Centre for Design participating in MICA in Argentina.
What happened last year?
Last year’s programme included studio visits to Ross Lovegrove,Industrial Facility and Troika, private meetings with the V&A, Design Museum,Royal Society of the Arts, the Design Council and visits to some of the best exhibitions and events at the festival including Tom Dixon’s Dock, the Brompton Design District and Design Junction.
This year’s focus:
