Perspectives on Making: The Journey of the Maker Library Network

7 March 2017
by Moira Lascelles

To celebrate the culmination of our four-year project, the Maker Library Network, the British Council has produced a publication, Perspectives on Making: The Journey of the Maker Library Network. The publication tells the story of how the Maker Library Network came about, its inspirations and its outcomes.

With essays by Financial Times critic, Edwin Heathcote, lecturer Stephen Knott, researchers Andrew Sleigh and Massimo Menichinelli and FabLab founder Tomas Diez, the publication looks critically at the project; highlighting strengths and weaknesses and imparting knowledge and lessons learned through a series of detailed case studies.

Perspectives on Making also includes the Maker Library Network bibliography and a full directory of the Maker Libraries who were part of the Network around the world.

The publication was edited by Anna Bates, designed by Studio Emmi and is richly illustrated with images of the project. The publication can be viewed via Issuu with hard copies available on request.
