The London College of Fashion Maker Library, in collaboration with the British Council, returns for the inaugural London Craft Week. The public have been invited to join London College of Fashion staff to learn about the tools and techniques behind the complex process of footwear design and making. The Maker Library will be based at LCF’s Golden Lane site, home to the world-renowned Cordwainers which houses LCF’s BA Footwear and MA Fashion Footwear courses.

On Saturday 9 May the Maker Library will host a series of workshops exploring footwear-making, from traditional techniques through to experimental design processes. Workshops include pattern cutting for shoes, design process and technical drawing workshops and demonstrations of the different stages of the shoe-making process and the equipment used.

The programme has been developed by Eelko Moorer (Course Director, MA Fashion Footwear at LCF) and Alison Moloney (Curator, International Exhibitions Programme at LCF) to extend the opportunity of experiencing and understanding the processes behind footwear-making.
