How can we cultivate a skill sharing environment to keep local and traditional techniques alive for the future? Watch as Isatu and Vanessa discuss their community driven projects, working to bring the old and young together to create a more circular future.
Isatu Harrison is the Founder, Designer & Creative Director of fashion brand, IZELIA. A part of a developing crop of entrepreneurs who are creating employment opportunities and bringing economic growth to African countries. Isatu's work is to inspire and assist emerging Sierra Leone designers with dreams of working in the fashion industry.
Vanessa is the Founder and Executive Director of Dorovee, an eco-friendly fashion accessories social enterprise in Malawi, that works with women and girls in marginalised communities that have dropped out of school and are young mothers. This is a creative hub training women to craft fashion accessories using waste materials and indigenous Malawian materials for income generation while addressing the problem of pollution under the trash to cash initiative by recycling materials such as plastic bottles, paper, waste fabrics, old car tires and wood shavings.
