London-based Irish designer Richard Malone will take part in Jakarta Fashion Week 2016 with a shared catwalk show with Indonesian duo frej as part of our Indonesia Fashion Futures programme.
Fashion Futures has emerged from Indonesia Fashion Forward which enables designers to explore new UK-Indonesia collaborations and showcase on international stages such as London Fashion Week. This year's joint catwalk follows UK designer Ed Marler's show with Indonesian designer Rinda Salman in 2015.
Richard Malone won the LVMH Grand Prix scholarship at Central Saint Martins and won the Deutsche Bank Award for Fashion, previously won by Christopher Kane. He has also been recognised for his innovative design by the Design Museum recently being nominated for the fashion category of Designs of the Year for his collection 'Inspired by traditional workwear and even his mother’s own Argos uniform [reimagining] workwear fabrics and shapes'.
Richard's work has clear synergies with our programme in Indonesia which focuses on Fashion Futures from a sustainable and artisanal perspective. He will speak at our annual Sustainable Fashion Forum, sharing his perspective on sustainability in the UK.
