The Common Thread Residencies - Morocco Photographer: Simon Mills
17 June 2015
by Gian Luca Amadei
ADF in collaboration with the Sheffield Design Week is presenting a talk/panel discussion on Thursday 18 June, as part of their Design Conference programme. The event aligns with this year's SDW theme ‘Transformation’ and provides an opportunity to reflect on what is the value of residency programmes in terms of experience and influence on creative practices.
Jane Hall, Holly Jayne Smith and Tzortzis Rallis, all former designers in residence on ADF programmes, will present research and finding gathered in their respective journeys in Brazil, Morocco and Finland. The designers will explain in which ways the experience of a different environment, cultural context, and design communities had an impact in their practice, influenced their design methodologies and stirred their creative instinct. The session will also address questions such as: how relevant is it to take up residency in another city, location or country?
The event will be chaired by Gian Luca Amadei programme manager design ADF.
