We are delighted to announce the Maker Library Network exhibition at Vitra Design Museum Gallery will be extended until Sunday 4 October 2015, giving you a whole extra month to visit the exhibition, hear the story of the Network so far, and see exciting outcomes of collaborative making.
Curated by Daniel Charny, the exhibition showcases the people, projects and collaborations the Maker Library Network has nurtured over the last year. Integrating making, showing and reading into the gallery space the exhibition is a Maker Library in itself, allowing the opportunity for visitors to browse a selection of books curated by each Maker Librarian, look at work created by the network of designers and makers, and participate in the process of making through experimenting with Tri-Space and himmeli structures at the maker-table.
Projects and objects showcased include a 3D printed breathing head with a laser cut breathing mechanism by artist Joachim Sefzick of South Kiosk made during a micro-residency at Maker Library: Machines Room, a traditional sleeping mat loom used by Maker Library: 75 Harrington, and Shibori fabric samples created during a skill swap workshop between textile designer Liza Mackenzie and designer researcher Candyce Dryburgh at Maker Library: Makerversity. Many other projects are also presented from a flat-pack hydroponics kit to a robotic African wire bird, demonstrating the breadth of making knowledge and skills throughout the Maker Library Network.
