The British Council’s Architecture, Design, Fashion department are looking for a graduate with good knowledge of architecture. Based in London, the post will suit someone who wishes to gain work experience through playing a supporting role within one of our key 2014 projects: the British Pavilion at the Venice Architecture Biennale.
The intern will work within the architecture team. The post will allow the graduate to build on their existing learning and formal studies. It provides an opportunity to gain on-the-job experience in delivering a meaningful project, and the chance to build contacts for the future.
The position offers opportunities to gain experience in variety of roles and responsibilities. The intern will learn about administrative and financial systems through playing a role in day-to-day administration. They will gain experience in areas such as maintaining databases, co-ordinating mail-outs, making logistical arrangements for events, and booking travel, transport, hotels and venues. The intern will have an opportunity to liaise with consultants based off-site, including designers, photographers, curatorsand partner organisations such as the La Biennale di Venezia.
The post will require high levels of initiative and problem solving, and the intern will have sound communications and computer skills. The post will suit someone who is inquisitive and keen to learn, has knowledge of contemporary architecture and design, and who is keen to improve/develop their organisational and administrative skills.
This rate for this paid intern role is £9.70 per hour for approximately 36 hours per week. We will issue a temporary contract that will run for a maximum of six months, starting as soon as possible.
