Ñanduti Myth: Beyond The Layers

Paraguay is a cultural and ethnic crossroads. This rich diversity – coupled with fast economic growth – has kick-started a cultural environment that is fresh and vibrant. Through their exploration of a traditional lace called Ñandutí, four designers look ‘Beyond the Layers’ to examine this ongoing transformation. Taking references from the Ñandutí’s shape, structure and semiotic significance, each focuses on a distinct aspect, highlighting their own preoccupations with design, their roots and their relation to other transnational influences. This exhibition will draw visitors into an imaginary web where superimposed layers resemble the structure of the Ñandutí itself.

Curated by Yanina Aubrey.
