Hear global tech creators discuss the development of fashion tech businesses and how it can be linked to sustainability in the podcast: The Future of Fashion Tech
During Stockholm Fashion Week in late-August, the British Ambassador to Sweden and the Swedish Ambassador to the UK together hosted an innovative and inspiring Fashion Tech event at the British Residence. The event is part of a series of Tech-Bridge events organised jointly by the Swedish and British Embassies over the past year to highlight the two countries’ global leadership in technology and innovation.
Fashion tech businesses 3D-printed jewellery live, used AI and scanning technology to generate personalised footwear recommendations, and explained how digital platforms helped increase transparency of their supply chains. A panel moderated by Sigrid Barnekow, Director of Mistra Future Fashion, discussed the importance of technology in reshaping consumption behaviours and increasing sustainability of the fashion industry. Representatives from Higher Studio, Neue, Virtusize and Ellen MacArthur Foundation inspired and engaged the audience with their thinking on new sustainable business models made possible by technology.
The event helped strengthen people-to-people links between British and Swedish fashion actors, deepen bilateral relations through the joint event hosted by the British and Swedish Ambassadors, as well as provide a fruitful discussion on the collaboration needed for the future of the fashion tech market to develop sustainably, beyond 2020.
