Design from Chile
Our very own João Guarantani, along with Chilean designers GT2P and Sergio Recabarren, will be discussing contemporary digital design processes. Together they will share their experiences researching for alternative ways of designing; blending contemporary digital technologies with their local, cultural and material context in order to produce their work.
Later in the programme, curators Raúl Espejo, Andres Briceño, Tomás Vivanco and Manuela Garretón will discuss their curatorial concept behind the Chilean pavilion at the London Design Biennale. The pavilion is based on the CYBERSYN project, a futuristic operation room developed in the Chile of the early 70´s that would facilitate government decision-making through conversation and better comprehension of data.
Finally, artist, designer and activist Sebastian Errazuriz will share some insight about his philosophy and studio practice in order to offer new perspectives on problem solving at different scales.
This conference has been organised in conjunction with the Chilean national pavilion at the First London Design Biennale at Somerset House, 7 – 27 September. Please see more information on the Somerset House website.
This exciting programme is free for all on a first come first served basis.
