V&A Dundee will represent the UK at the XXI Triennale di Milano, which is taking place between 2 April and 12 September this year. The new design museum will present ‘Adventures in Design’, a specially commissioned comic strip created by Will Morris and David MacKenzie, charting the story of some of the UK’s most exciting design innovations.

V&A Museum of Design Dundee will be an international centre for design, housed in a  building created by Japanese architect Kengo Kuma at the heart of Dundee’s revitalised waterfront. It will host major exhibitions, celebrate design heritage, inspire and promote contemporary talent, and encourage future design innovation. The new Museum is at the heart of a 30-year, £1 billion transformation that will reconnect the city to its historic waterfront – and use design to boost the local economy.

The museum will showcase Scotland’s globally important history of design, from the invention of the pedal-driven bicycle and waterproof fabric, to the world’s only rotating boat lift, to fashion designers reinterpreting tradition for today’s catwalks. The project is supported the British Council and the Scottish Government. The international showcase is part of the Scottish Government’s Year of Innovation, Architecture and Design 2016, a celebration of the nation’s global contributions to architecture, design, engineering and science.

The XXI Triennale di Milano International Exhibition returns after 20 years. Entitled 21st Century. Design After Design, it will be held from 2 April to 12 September 2016 in venues across the city including La Triennale, Fabbrica del Vapore, the Accademia di Belle Arti di Brera, the Pirelli Headquarters and the Villa Reale in Monza – the historic site of the first International Exhibitions. For further information, visit the Triennale website.
