After completing his fashion design studies at Studio Berçot, Paris, Alan Mathew Alexander worked for Parisian fashion houses including Azzedine Alaia, Rick Owens and Jean Paul Gaultier. The brand, Kaleekal was founded in 2015 with the aim of employing traditional Indian handloom fabrics in conceptualising a contemporary wardrobe. Minimal in detail and functionality, the brand aesthetics could be roughly summed up as tending towards at times awkward looking clothes that question propriety and norms of conventional fashion and garment construction. Alan showed his debut collection at Lakme Fashion Week Gen Next in Mumbai in 2015.
Kaleekal is showing as part of the International Fashion Showcase 2017, to find out more, click here.
