Raquel was born in Guatemala and lived in Rome before moving to London. She quit her job at Goldman Sachs to create SCALO 502, building both on her Guatemalan roots and international upbringing. The brand reflects her desire to promote artisanal work through contemporary design. Each piece is the end product of a very lengthy and delicate process that begins at the back loom of a meticulous and devoted Mayan weaver in Guatemala and finishes at the hands of passionate European artisans, combining different cultures to enhance the result of each piece giving them a distinct soul and a deeply personal story.
