If you're planning to visit the Venice Binealle during the Vernissage on Friday 6 June, we welcome you to join us for two special events at the British Pavilion.
Is there such a thing as national architecture?
Friday 6 June 2014
15.00 – 16.00
British Pavilion / piano terra
In an age of worldwide markets, universal techniques, intercontinental travel and transnational telecommunications, many still argue for architecture’s regional provenance. Stephan Petermann (OMA), Ma Yansong (MAD architects) and Diébédo Francis Kéré (Kéré Architects) discuss whether contemporary architecture should pursue national forms or revel in a globalised culture. Chaired by Vicky Richardson (British Council). Organised in partnership with Phaidon Press.
This event is free but space is limited; please RSVP to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Phaidon Press invite you to trial the new interactive Atlas of Architecture - an innovative digital platform for discovery, inspiration and learning for the global architecture community. Covering 21st Century Architecture on an unprecedented scale, the Phaidon Atlas is the go to resource for architects looking to discover contemporary architectural solutions, for every conceivable building type.
For our first Vernissage talk on Friday 6 June, curators Sam Jacob and Wouter Vanstiphout will introduce the exhibition 'A Clockwork Jeruselam'. For full details please click here.
