Victoria Tonu was born in Chisinau, Republic of Moldova and now lives in Bucharest. After graduating in Art and Design from Huddersfield University, UK, Victoria chose to focus on jewellery, print making and collage as her main areas of interest.
Vika Tonu Design was born in June 2013, concurrently with the first ring series entitled ‘Dimiourgia’, revealing a universe of jewellery loaded with symbolism and power.
By using the four basic shapes– the triangle, the square, the circle, the semi circle –and by associating them with the four universal forces – fire, earth, water, air –Victoria wishes to create a cognitive process for the wearers of her jewelry, by offering them objects as totems, which elusively remind the wearer of the elements that form our personalities.
Her style can be described as minimalistic, geometric - one of simplification striving to achieve the essence of things.
Victoria has participated at various events and local jewellery fairs and has her pieces exhibited in Bucharest.
She has also collaborated on various projects with local artists and designers.
