This year marks the fiftieth anniversary of Ken Garland's First Things First manifesto - a legendary document in the history of design as the first to suggest the necessity of changing the profession's priorities for the benefit of society. In celebration of the anniversary, Warsaw, its programme will include: an international conference with the participation of Ken Garland, a theatrical performance based on the manifesto (organised by the Institute for the Performing Arts and Komuna) and a publication devoted to its history. The aim is to make of this anniversary an opportunity to give the Manifesto some new consideration, update it, and think about what it might mean in present day Poland.
