I had the opportunity to collaborate in the last part of Design Explore with a one-day workshop involving electronics. The participant’s fist built a radio from a kit of electronic components and in a second stage, designed a switch for it using various electro-conductive materials.
What started, as an individual project gradually became a collaborative activity as they helped each other to resolve technical issues.
The workshop aimed to question everyday objects and its use, reflecting about both the invisibility of radio waves, and the behaviors surrounding the use of the radio itself.
The switch re-design span from a handshake switch, to a switch incorporated in the backrest of a chair, which plenty of fun and engaging ideas in between.
Design Explore has been without doubt a great opportunity to be exposed to different methods and ways of thinking and doing for the participants, and for me an entry point to understand a culture and a country of which I knew very little about.
