We are looking for an experienced and imaginative design expert to join the Architecture, Design and Fashion department at the British Council. This is a key role within the department and will require experience of leading a team; and curating and managing design exhibitions and other events,
The Senior Programme Manager will act as deputy for the Director of the department, and will assist with strategic leadership, management and financial planning.
Working with architects, designers and design professionals ADF department promotes international collaboration and exchange through exhibitions, events, workshops, residencies and training in more than 100 countries. Flagship projects include the British Pavilion at Venice Architecture Biennale and international touring exhibitions such as IceLab, Everything Forever Now and Reconstruction.
Based in the team in London you will work with colleagues, museums and festivals around the world to programme, curate and organise a diverse range of design activities. The role involves all aspects from initiating, planning and developing programmes to creative concepts, negotiating partnerships to commissioning design, logistics and project management.
You will assist the Director in planning activities, and shaping the direction of the British Council’s work in architecture, design and fashion.
You will also provide advice about working overseas to British designers seeking to develop their work through international connections.
