Earlier this year British Council Egypt hosted an exhibition of work by young Egyptian designers as part of a collaboration between the European Union and renowned jewellery designer Azza Fahmy. The exhibition ‘The Power of Contemporary Design’ showcased the creations of Egyptian students who took part in workshops in the southern city of Aswan. The students had the chance to learn from experts including Azza Fahmy herself.
Azza Fahmy has had a long relationship with the British Council after she was awarded a fellowship to study jewellery craft at the City of London Polytechnic in 1977. Since then her jewellery business has grown within Egypt to become one of its leading luxury brand and an entrepreneurial success. She is now passing on her skills to the next generation of young Egyptian designers. This film explores her work and how she is inspiring the next generation of Egypt's creative entrepreneurs.
