Richard Shed got in touch with the ADF team recently and we got together at his studio in East London to catch up about his work that spans spatial, interactive, product design and research. Richard has lately been busy with spatial design research and the realisation of a meeting space and client area for Method. At last year’s London Design Festival, Richard was one of ten designers commissioned by The Lollipop Shoppe to create a bench for the public space surrounding Spitalfields Market. Richard took inspiration from the different stages of timber production and the shape of the final bench denotes where it came from and the processes involved. We also talked about his upcoming trip to Denmark where he’ll be carrying out a second residency at the Copenhagen Institute of Interaction Design. Watch this space to find out more about Richard’s experience of working with staff and students at the institute.
