On September 6th 2011 the V&A Museum will launch The Power of Making exhibition in collaboration with Craft Council. The Power of Making will display over 100 exceptionally crafted objects including Thomas Heatherwicks spun metal rotating chair and the individual handcrafted puppets from the 2009 film Fantastic Mr Fox.
As well as exhibiting established designers, the Craft Council have put a call out for emerging designers and the public to enter submissions for The Power of Making on Screen. You are asked to submit a short film (between 10-120 seconds) that celebrates the power of making. The film may explain, illustrate and/or observe 'making' skills, techniques and process. 40 selected films will be shown alongside The Power of Making exhibtion.
The closing date for submissions is Sunday 31st July 2011.
This FREE exhibition takes place from 6 September 2011 – 2 January 2012 in the Porter Gallery, the V&A’s gallery for contemporary exhibitions and installations.
