How can we create better cities? What is the role of technology in architectural design? These were some of the questions raised in the first ever Architectural Association (AA) Visiting School Lima in August 2017.
The 10-day workshop, a collaboration between the AA and the Peruvian architecture studio Dessin-Tecnisch, and supported by the British Council, focused on addressing Lima's public transport needs and the role new technologies and advanced software can play in minimising the transport issues in global metropolises. This film maps some of the collaborations and reveals some of the possible outcomes of the workshop.
The visiting school is part of 'Reframing Spaces', an arts programme led by British Council Peru that provides support for the exchange of ideas and knowledge between architects, urban planners, designers and organisations in the UK and Peru. The programme has also so far included UK participation in LIMAPOLIS, an annual city-wide programme of architecture and urbanism in Lima. To find out more, read the travelogue by 6a Architects.
