The inaugural International Fashion Showcase took place during London Fashion Week 2012. Each of the 24 participating countries presented a selection of emerging designers whom they felt most represented the future of fashion in their region.
The Emerging Talent Award is judged by a panel of industry experts and awarded to the showcase which best responds to the brief of innovatively presenting the most exciting new fashion design from their region.
In 2012 the winner of the award was the Korean exhibition, ‘A New Space Around The Body’ and designer Minky Jeamu, whose work is featured in the exhibition, was presented with a beautifully designed crystal sculpture created by Jordan Askill. All the judges agreed that the Korean entry, which was organised and staged at the Korean Cultural Centre, was a diverse and well considered response which offered a perfectly executed, tantalising smorgasbord of the fashion talent coming out of Korea, and increased awareness of the country's fashion industry context today.
