For the month of June ARThink South Asia (ATSA) 2016-17 Fellow Mohammad Daud Hedayati is undertaking a secondment at the Crafts Council in London. This is the cross-disciplinary programme's first craft focused secondment in the UK.

The British Council is a partner of the ATSA Fellowship programme which is designed for emerging cultural managers, 15 fellows from a variety of disciplines are selected each year from India and South Asia.

The fellowship comprises of a two-week course of intensive modules and lectures led by international experts, and a month-long secondment at a cultural organisation best suited to their professional interests in either the UK, Germany or South Asia.

Daud works as Business Mentoring Officer at Turquoise Mountain in Afghanistan, an organisation regenerating the old city of Kabul and spurring the sustainable development of the Afghan crafts industry, he is also a practicing artist.

Due to the nature of Daud's work he has been paired with the Crafts Council where he will spend a month collaborating with colleagues from departments including Innovation, Research & Policy, and Professional & Business development. Learning about parallel practices in the UK will be gained through contributing to research, and attending meetings and events with crafts organisations, designers and makers.
