An emerging generation of designers are developing new modes of thinking and advances in numerous fields. They have the potential to shape the future, capture our imaginations and fundamentally change our everyday lives. We commissioned filmmaker Thomas Buttery to showcase four British design studios who embody this wave of 'invention in design'.

The four designers and studios, Hugh Broughton Architects, Oluwaseyi Sosanya, Marjan van Aubel of Caventou and Alex Hulme of Map Project Office, demonstrate how working collaboratively and across disciplines, using risk-taking through research and embracing digital technology and an open approach to new projects can yield truly inventive and innovative results.

Our hope is that this will raise awareness of the radical and exciting work currently taking place throughout design practices, and inspire current and future generations of designers.
