The London Festival of Architecture (LFA) and Dulwich Picture Gallery are looking to harness fresh and exciting architectural talent to create a ‘Dulwich Pavilion’ – a temporary events structure in the gallery’s historic grounds, and a companion to Sir John Soane’s architectural masterpiece to open during LFA 2017.
The Dulwich Pavilion will be a transformative project for the gallery, allowing it to overcome a lack of existing space and meet the demand of an increasing number of visitors. As the gallery celebrates its bicentenary in 2017, the Pavilion will host an ambitious celebratory programme of exhibitions, events, lectures and learning activities.
How to apply
Initial expressions of interest from emerging practices are invited by 25 November.
Entries will be judged by a panel of leading architectural and cultural figures.
Up to three shortlisted practices will be invited to develop a design concept and awarded an honorarium of £500. A winning entry will be chosen in January and the pavilion will be constructed in Spring 2017 to open at the beginning of the London Festival of Architecture on 1 June 2017.
