Rosella May X SOE Jakarta

18 October 2016
by Debbie Leane

Our Graduate Fashion Week residency winners have been in Indonesia collabrating with local designers on capsule collections since early August, the collaborations by Billie Jacobina x Lekat and Rosella May x SOE Jakarta were presented in a joint catwalk at Jakarta Fashion Week 2016.

The residency award gives outstanding graduates from UK universities at Graduate Fashion Week a chance to take part in a residency where they work with local designers, universities, craftspeople and production in a country with an emerging fashion industry. This year's graduates Rosella May (Nottingham Trent) and Billie Jacobina (Univeristy for the Creative Arts, Rochester) have been collaborating with SOE Jakarta and Lekat respectively, two Indonesian brands who are working to ethically reinvent traditional textiles and cultural heritage.

Billie and Rosella also participated in the Sustainable Fashion Forum, contributing their experiences of production in both Indonesia and the UK.
