Fixperts are holding a one night only Fixhub at Maker Library: Machines Room at Limewharf as part of Open Mile – a trail of open studios and workshops hosting events and activities throughout the evening of Monday 21 September, as part of London Design Festival. Hosted by the project’s co-founder Daniel Charny, the Fixhub will present making demonstrations and screenings of FixFilms. Visitors are also encouraged to bring something broken or worn out with them to participate in the Fixperts A&E.
Other highlights of the Open Mile event include RCA Design Products graduates’ exhibition at Machines Room, East London Printmakers open screen printing workshops, and OpenDesk teaming up with THOSE to produce live illustrations of OpenDesk furniture with their Woodpecker CNC writing machine. Participants also include Sugru, Technology Will Save Us, V&A Museum of Childhood, The Carpentry Club, MakeWorks and many more.
The Open Mile event will launch Maker Mile - one square mile of open workshops, artist & designer’s studios, fabricators, galleries, micro-factories, shops and businesses, centered on Mare St. between Bethnal Green and London Fields stations. The Maker Mile gives a platform to an existing network of suppliers, makers and outlets so that local communities can discover the maker culture and resources open to them.
